Melanie Ho was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area town of Los Gatos, California and is fourth generation Chinese American. She has lived in Southern California since 1983. She is married to John Erb, a corporate accountant and a fellow California native. She took last name of Erb and changed her middle name to Ho. Even though her official name is Dr Erb, she often includes her middle name, Ho, in written material so that patients know that she is Asian. Since it so confusing, she answers to all possible combinations of her name….Dr Erb, Dr Ho, Dr Ho Erb, Dr Erb Ho, Dr Melanie. Technically, Dr Erb is the correct one.
Dr. Erb earned her BA from UCLA. She earned her MD from UC Irvine. She did her internship in Surgery at UC Irvine. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at UC Irvine. Dr. Erb finished her 2 year, ASOPRS-approved, fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Eyesthetica in Los Angeles.
Dr. Erb then joined Eyesthetica as an Oculoplastic surgeon. She also taught Oculoplastic fellows there and taught Ophthalmology residents at both UC Irvine and USC. She has authored book chapters and articles for scientific journals. She is invited to speak at local, national, and international meetings to teach her skills to physicians around the world.
After 10 years, Dr Erb moved to Irvine in solo private practice where she could provide more individualized aesthetic care in a warm, boutique setting. She has performed thousands of successful eyelid surgeries and injections of neurotoxin and filler. Her approachability, honesty, and warm bedside manner have earned her Top Doctor accolades in Los Angeles Magazine, Orange Coast Magazine, Castle Connolly, and Vitals since 2010.
Dr Erb is a mother of two adult children: Tyler (daughter) and Brian (son). In her spare time, she enjoys doing Zumba, playing pickleball, and listening to audiobooks.
