Entropion Repair can give relief from eye irritation
Entropion is a medical condition where the edge of the eyelid turns inwards towards the eyeball and the eyelashes will rub against the eyeball which causes eye pain and tearing. Entropion repair surgery rotates the eyelid and eyelashes away from the eyeball so the eyelashes point forward again. When the eyelid and eyelashes are not rubbing against the eyeball, this improves the eye pain and tearing. I have written about the surgical technique in the medical journal, Ophthalmology.
Ectropion Repair will help with some eye redness
Ectropion is a medical condition where the edge of the eyelid turns outwards away from the eyeball. This results in a gap between the eyelid and eyeball. The inside of the eyelid gets red and irritated and gets discharge. Ectropion repair surgery rotates the eyelid back towards the eyeball which improves the redness and discharge.
Dr. Erb is honored to be entrusted with the care of your children's eyes
As a parent, the health of your child is of the utmost importance. I took care of the kids from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for many years as the certified specialist in Oculoplastic surgery. The most common congenital eyelid conditions that kids see me for is congenital ptosis (droopy eyelid), congenital tear duct blockage, and eyelashes that rub against the eyeball. As a mom myself, I interact well with kids and I am conservative and cautious in my care of your precious child. And I welcome that honor.
Tearing is a common problem that Dr. Erb can help you with
Tearing, or watery eyes, is a common problem. Sometimes your tearing is due to dry eye, and sometimes it is not. I do a comprehensive and systematic evaluation to identify the cause of your tearing and then I treat your tearing in a step-wise fashion with medication first and later with surgery, if needed.
