Your eyes are one of your most expressive facial features, so make sure they are expressing what you want them to. Excess skin, puffy bags, and dark circles under the eyes can give you a tired and sad look even though you are wide awake, happy, and vibrant. This can happen in both young women and men as well as mature women and men.
Laser lower eyelid blepharoplasty (eyelid bag removal) can improve the extra skin and puffy bags that causes the shadowing and dark circles under the eyes and can show the world that you are healthy and refreshed.
The lower eyelid can be a quite complex area to rejuvenate. As a certified Oculoplastic Surgeon, I have the most specialized training available for eyelid surgery.
If only fat needs to be removed, I will perform a transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty, where the incision is made from the backside of the eyelid and there is no scar on the skin side of the eyelid. Depending on your particular situation, I may remove or reposition the fatty tissue to fill in the tear hollow area.
If excess skin is to be removed, I will remove skin below the eyelashes which usually results in a barely detectable scar.
If your eyelids are loose, I may need to put a temporary tightening stitch under the skin to stabilize the eyelid and keep it from pulling down.
Alternatively, you might not need surgery and could benefit from filler injection to your tear hollow instead.
Your lower eyelid surgery is usually performed in my office procedure room or occasionally in a surgery center or hospital depending on your wishes and needs. Your comfort and safety is my utmost concern. I have performed thousands of these procedures so I am good at creating an environment where you experience minimal discomfort.
